We run frequent and regular sessions to a local woodland and beach area.
We visit our woodland area in all seasons allowing us to explore and investigate the seasonal changes.
There is a high emphasis placed on child-led learning, in which children can explore their natural surroundings whilst gaining knowledge and learning new practical skills. Safety measures are taught to the children and they are encouraged to take appropriate risks which will develop resilience and a sense of self-achievement.
Forest and Coastal school aims to:
- Allow children time to explore curiosities and develop knowledge of our surrounding area.
- Give first-hand experiences and opportunities to research and find answers to some of our curiosities.
- Promote collaborative skills, developing a sense of community in our group.
- Introduce a range of skills along with the safety measures that go along with them.
- Provide opportunities to learn how to handle risks, develop resilience and use own initiatives to solve problems.
- Over a period of time, develop confident, creative and enthusiastic independent learners.
- Develop leadership skills.
