I would like to welcome you to Mill Hill Nursery School.
I hope this website helps you to understand what makes our school so special.
Mill Hill Nursery School is a Local Authority Nursery School situated in the Doxford Park area of Sunderland.
We are part of a Hard Federation with Houghton Community Nursery School, which sees us work closely together…..
The school currently offer provision from birth and can take children up to the age of five. We are open from 7.45am until 5.30pm, fifty weeks of the year.
As a school we work closely with all our families and pride ourselves on been warm, welcoming, friendly and approachable.
The nursery is staffed by qualified teachers, Early Years Practitioners and support staff. All of the team are dedicated to our children, they have high expectations for the children and they are at the heart of everything we do.
The staff take time to listen to the children and their interests, which often results in both the children and staff going on a learning journey together. Every child is important to us and we celebrate diversity. We therefore ensure that everyone is included, everyone matters and all their individual needs are met.
We pride ourselves on providing a curriculum that is broad, varied and driven by children’s interests and fascinations.
The learning environment both indoors and outdoors is engaging, stimulating and open ended allowing children to be independent learners, but also allowing them to feel safe, secure and nurtured. All children are encouraged to be curious about the world in which they live, as a result they are motivated which results in their levels of engagement and involvement being high. High quality effective interaction, reciprocal relationships (The Golden Thread) and teaching by staff ensures children’s communication and language and learning is always developing.
Our overarching aim is that all the children who come here flourish and become independent, confident, caring and responsible young learners, who leave here with a real love of learning.
